What trading OANDA costs
One standard lot of EUR/USD on OANDA's Spread-only pricing account costs US$14.00 for the round turn: 1.4 pips of spread (US$14.00), with the commission wrapped into the spread, on the spread the US site advertises (no basis stated) rather than a figure we measured.
| Account | A month of trading | One round turn, 1 lot |
|---|---|---|
| Spread-only pricing1.4 pips, advertised, no basis word stated (US site, September 23, 2026) | US$280.00 | US$14.00 |
A pip on EUR/USD is US$10.00 per standard lot, so the cost of a round turn is the spread in pips times that, plus any commission.
Our verdict on OANDA
I would point a US retail trader who wants a long-established forex dealer at OANDA Corporation, registered with the CFTC as a Futures Commission Merchant and Retail Foreign Exchange Dealer and an NFA member since March 2003. Our published score for OANDA is 88.3 out of 100, and that is the site's global score from the global broker test, not a US test. What would give me pause is that the US site states no futures or options product, so a trader who wants index or commodity markets alongside spot forex will not find them here. The recommendation still stands for a US spot forex trader.
Pros
- OANDA Corporation is registered with the CFTC as a Futures Commission Merchant and Retail Foreign Exchange Dealer (NFA BASIC).
- Traders get four platforms: OANDA Trade, MetaTrader 4, TradingView, and a separate OANDA Paxos crypto app for iOS and Android.
- Three funding routes the US site states, including ACH bank transfer.
- A demo account is available, with a toggle to switch from live trading.
- No minimum deposit for bank wire transfers, as the US site states.
Cons
- Core pricing is available only from a US$10K balance, as the US site states.
- BASIC lists regulatory actions against this NFA ID.
- The US site states no futures or options product.
- The US site does not list the base currencies an account can hold.

How popular is OANDA in the United States?
OANDA ranked 2nd for search interest among the 5 CFTC-regulated brokers in our search-interest ranking in September 2026, on 41,060 branded Google searches from the United States, behind Interactive Brokers. Search interest measures attention, not quality; the score above is the review verdict.

How this is measured
Google Ads reports how many times a month people in the United States searched each broker's brand terms, and the brokers are ranked on that figure alone.
A term counts for a broker only when that broker's own website holds the first organic Google result for it in the United States; bare brand words that any company could own are left out.
A month-on-month change prints only where the previous month reached 1,000 searches, because Google rounds smaller volumes.
The figures refresh on the 15th of each month with the newest month Google has published, and the first-result check repeats every quarter.
How safe is OANDA?
Yes, OANDA Corporation is registered with the CFTC and is an NFA member, and the registrations in the table below print their effective dates. The firm carries the Forex Dealer Member designation and does business as FXTRADE.COM and OANDA (NFA BASIC, read September 23, 2026). An NFA ID identifies the firm on BASIC: it is not a license.

OANDA spreads and commission
The figures below are the US site’s own advertised numbers, and I have not measured any of them on a US account. Check the spread in the demo before you trade. A fresh check of the US site on October 16, 2026 confirmed the pricing and account details below.
Spread-only pricing
The US site advertises EUR/USD at 1.4 pips in a table headed “Spread”, with no basis word printed beside it (the site’s pricing page). The source does not label 1.4 as a minimum or an average, so I would not read it as a typical spread for your trading. Treat it as a published number only.
Core pricing
Core pricing lists EUR/USD from a minimum spread of 0.0 pips, with a commission added on top, and the site says eligibility requires a balance of US$10K or more deposited or held in the account (the site’s core pricing page). That balance threshold is a separate gate from the Elite Trader program, which the account comparison ties to a minimum level of monthly trading volume, as shown in the table below.
Commission
On spread-only pricing, the site says the commission is wrapped into the spread it offers. The commission on core pricing is US$0.70 per 10,000 units traded, and it applies to each side of a trade, the entry and the exit. Trades other than 100,000 units pay pro rata, and no trade pays under US$0.01.
Elite Trader program
The Elite Trader program pays tiered cash rebates on monthly trading volume, and the account table sets entry at a minimum monthly volume requirement, with the rebate range listed in the table below. These rebates are not automatic, since they only apply once you meet the volume tiers. Whether a rebate can sit alongside the core rate is something you would need to check against the current program terms, as the site does not spell that out.
How the three pricing options compare
| Pricing option | Criteria | Pricing basis | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spread-only | No stated threshold | Commission wrapped into the spread | OANDA pricing page |
| Core | Balance of US$10K or greater | Minimum spread from 0.0 pips plus US$0.70 per 10,000 units per side | OANDA core pricing page |
| Elite Trader | From US$10 million monthly volume | Rebates from US$5 to US$17 per million traded | OANDA pricing page |
The two thresholds answer different questions. The core pricing gate asks how much money sits in your account, while the Elite Trader gate asks how much volume you trade each month. I suggest checking where your own numbers fall before you assume either pricing model applies, because the site prices them quite differently.

OANDA deposits and withdrawals
Funding route: debit card (Mastercard, Visa, Discover), wire transfer, ACH bank transfer (Broker's US site, read September 23, 2026)
Our US account check
Our team opened a live Spread Only account at OANDA Corporation on September 23. Approval was instant inside the application and no ID upload was requested. That same day our team sent a $200 ACH deposit through Plaid, and $100 of it was usable at once as an ACH advance credit. The bank debit posted on September 24, 2026. The advance credit was reversed on September 26, 2026 and the full deposit completed on September 27, 2026. The advance credit is not an extra deposit, and no live trade was recorded on this account.
The withdrawal options shown were a debit card, capped at the amount deposited by card, or a wire, with no ACH withdrawal option offered. On November 5, 2026 our team returned the full deposit by wire as a withdrawal. The fee shown was $0 and OANDA quoted 1 to 5 business days. Bank receipt is still pending. Our team published the funding history image and an OANDA live web platform screenshot as evidence.
I would plan your withdrawals around the card cap or a wire before you deposit, because ACH only works on the way in. My advice is to treat the instant advance as timing, not extra money. You can see how deposits and withdrawals behaved across every US account we checked in the full table.

OANDA trading platforms
OANDA’s US site counts its trading platforms as four. The list covers OANDA Trade, which runs in a browser and in the OANDA Mobile for Forex app, MetaTrader 4, TradingView, and a separate OANDA Paxos for Crypto app available on iOS and Android.

The site describes OANDA Trade as fully customizable, web-based, with apps for mobiles and tablets.

OANDA execution speed and slippage
Our global panel of 36 brokers puts OANDA’s market orders at 84 ms, second fastest on the panel, and its limit orders at 86 ms, fifth. These are global figures from our broker test, and we have not measured execution speed on a US account, so I would not read them as a US result. Our US account-opening and funding checks, which you can read in the deposits section, looked at the application and deposit process only, not at how fast orders fill.
A fill time tells you how long an order took, not what price it got, so I would not read either rank as a promise on slippage. If execution matters to your strategy, I would watch your fills in the demo and compare them with the entries you intended; your own fills are the only slippage evidence that counts for your account.
OANDA markets and currency pairs
Prices are quoted on 68 FX pairs, and spot crypto comes via the firm’s partner Paxos: eight coins appear on the instruments page and the cryptocurrencies page adds Solana. Spot crypto carries no leverage, cannot be shorted, and is closed to corporate, IRA, ECP, or legal entity accounts. Every crypto trade executes on the Paxos Trust Company exchange, where positions are held, and OANDA Corporation takes no part in those digital asset transactions and does not custody them. The US site states no futures or options product.

OANDA leverage and margin for US clients
The site’s margin, FIFO and hedging statements are in the table below. The security deposit rule is separate: 17 CFR 5.9(a)(1) sets a security deposit of 2% of notional value on major currency pairs (50:1, our arithmetic) and 5% on all others (20:1, our arithmetic). NFA Compliance Rule 2-43(b) provides that a Forex Dealer Member may not carry offsetting positions in a customer account and offsets positions first in, first out.

How OANDA compares with tastyfx and FOREX.com
On the pricing the sites themselves state, tastyfx advertises a Standard EUR/USD minimum spread of 0.8 pips, Prime at 0.6 pips and Zero+ at 0 pips, with commissions of US$0, US$0, and US$5 per lot across those accounts. FOREX.com advertises 1.2 pips as a minimum on its spread-only account and 0.1 pips typical on RAW pricing, with US$7 per US$100k traded on RAW. OANDA’s own spread and commission sit in the table earlier on this page.
On our global broker test, the same basis for every firm, tastyfx scores 68.2 out of 100 and ranks second of six in the rated US set, and FOREX.com scores 67.6 out of 100 and ranks third. OANDA’s global published score is higher than both, and the basis is the same global test, not a US one.
Platform priorities should drive this choice. I would keep OANDA when its OANDA Trade platform, alongside TradingView and MetaTrader 4, matches the way a trader works. MetaTrader 5 is a reason to consider FOREX.com instead, and the FOREX.com review covers that option. ProRealTime is a reason to consider tastyfx, and the tastyfx review covers that setup.

Should you open an account with OANDA?
Yes, I would open an account with OANDA Corporation if I wanted spot forex with no minimum deposit by wire transfer and a long registration record on NFA BASIC.
The score that leads our rated US set is global, not a test of this entity, and the site states CFDs are off limits to US residents, so check that your markets are covered before you go further. Before you deposit, I would read the firm’s BASIC profile under its NFA ID and the regulatory action documents there, then confirm the pricing and margin terms you saw on the US site still hold.
