Forex Market Hours in Canada: Sessions in Eastern and Pacific Time

The clock below shows each session's local hours, the same hours in GMT, and the reader's own time zone once the page loads, so every session lines up against a Canadian trading day.

When the forex market opens and closes in Canadian time

These open and close times are New York hours. OANDA says “New York time” and FOREX.com says “5 PM ET”, so the Sunday 5:00 p.m. ET open and the Friday 5:00 p.m. ET close hold on an Eastern clock all year. The Pacific hour is the one that moves. Until November 1, 2026 the week opens and closes at 2:00 p.m. Pacific time in B.C. From November 1, 2026, when US daylight time ends at 2 a.m. ET and B.C. does not change its clocks, both read 3:00 p.m. until US daylight time starts on March 14, 2027, the second Sunday of March by NIST, when they return to 2:00 p.m. OANDA adds that its times are subject to change during daylight saving time and certain public holidays. I would keep the B.C. shift in mind for your Sunday planning.

Each trading session in Eastern and Pacific time

The table lists each centre’s weekday hours at its own standard time, then converts them to Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5) and to Pacific time in B.C., which sits at UTC-7 all year. Where you see “(previous day)”, the session starts the evening before on a Canadian clock, which applies to Sydney and Tokyo. Sydney’s 07:00 to 16:00 AEST reads 4:00 p.m. (previous day) to 1:00 a.m. ET, while London’s 08:00 to 17:00 GMT reads 3:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon ET and 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Pacific. The clock-change section below covers the weeks when a centre runs on summer time, and I would check it before planning around a single session.

The London session in Canadian time

London runs 08:00 to 17:00 GMT. Our session table puts that at 3:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon ET and 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Pacific time in B.C., at standard time. The summer hours differ. While London is on British Summer Time, which runs until 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 24, 2026 by FOREX.com Canada’s table, the session starts one hour earlier on a B.C. clock: midnight to 9:00 a.m. Pacific. In my view, if you trade from B.C., that earlier start is worth building your morning around while British summer time lasts.

The New York session in Canadian time

New York runs 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Eastern time moves with New York, so the hours hold at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET all year, with no shift in autumn 2026. On a B.C. clock the session reads 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Pacific until November 1, 2026, then 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from that date until March 14, 2027, as the table’s row shows. The Friday 5:00 p.m. ET close of the week is the end of this session, so your last trading of every week finishes with New York.

The Asian sessions: Sydney and Tokyo in Canadian time

Sydney runs 07:00 to 16:00 AEST, which the table puts at 4:00 p.m. (previous day) to 1:00 a.m. ET and 2:00 p.m. (previous day) to 11:00 p.m. (previous day) Pacific. Tokyo runs 09:00 to 18:00 JST, which the table puts at 7:00 p.m. (previous day) to 4:00 a.m. ET and 5:00 p.m. (previous day) to 2:00 a.m. Pacific. For a Canadian reader, both sessions run through the evening before on your clock. One date to note: Australian daylight time begins at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 3, 2026, by FOREX.com Canada’s table, and that moves Sydney’s hours on a Canadian clock. I would treat the Sydney row as a moving target after that date.

When London and New York overlap on the Canadian clock

The overlap runs from New York’s 8:00 a.m. open to London’s close: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon ET in the table, and 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Pacific time in B.C. from November 1, 2026 to March 13, 2027. Until October 24, 2026, and again from March 28, 2027, London is on British Summer Time and the window reads 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on a B.C. clock. From October 25 to 31, 2026 and from March 14 to 27, 2027, London is on GMT while Eastern time is on daylight time, so the overlap runs 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET, 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Pacific. If you trade from B.C., I would set your alarm for the start of that window rather than the middle of it.

How clock changes move the sessions in Canada

FOREX.com Canada’s table gives three dates. Australian daylight time begins at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 3, 2026; UK daylight time ends at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 24, 2026; US daylight time ends at 2 a.m. ET on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The Government of British Columbia’s page adds the Canadian side: after clocks moved ahead on March 8, 2026, B.C. adopted permanent Pacific time at UTC-7 and will not turn clocks back on November 1, 2026. The result is that the gap between Eastern time and B.C. time falls from three hours to two on November 1, 2026. I would reset your routine that weekend.

What the dealers on our list state about trading hours

OANDA and FOREX.com state the same week on their Canadian pages: trading runs from Sunday 5 p.m. to Friday 5 p.m. New York time. AvaTrade, offered in Canada through Friedberg Mercantile Group Ltd., states that its trading desk opens on Sundays between 5:00 PM ET and 5:15 PM ET and closes on Fridays at 4:55 PM ET. We read the three pages on September 27, 2026. I would check your own firm’s page before the Friday close.

What is the best time to trade forex in Canada?

For most readers the answer is the London and New York overlap: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon ET. On a B.C. clock that is 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Pacific until October 24, 2026, and again from March 28, 2027; it is 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Pacific from November 1, 2026 to March 13, 2027. In the gap weeks the overlap runs 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET, from October 25 to 31, 2026 and from March 14 to 27, 2027. In my view, an Eastern reader gets the whole overlap inside a workday morning, which makes it an easy habit to keep. If you trade from B.C., I would plan your day around the window for your dates, since it moves with the clock changes.
