Our global rating: 64.6 out of 100, strongest on Range of Markets and Education (10 out of 10) and weakest on Trading Experience (4.1 out of 10).

I place CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd fourth of the 16 firms in our rated Singapore set. It scores 64.6 out of 100 in our global broker test. It is a weaker fit if you fund by card, since the firm states a 2% transaction fee on Mastercard and Visa deposits.

Our verdict on CMC Markets

I would point active CFD traders at CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd. Our global broker test scores its range of markets and its education at 10 out of 10 each, its Singapore site lists platforms from Next Generation to TradingView, and funding runs through FAST and PayNow at no cost. One term gives me pause: the firm's own Terms of Business state that any negative balance must be cleared promptly, a debt due immediately.

CMC Markets scores 64.6 out of 100 in our global broker test, fourth of 16 in the rated Singapore set, and no MAS enforcement action or media release names the licensee as its subject. The negative balance term is the fact to weigh before you deposit: it is the firm's own statement, and I would read it in full.

How this is measured

Google Ads reports how many times a month people in Singapore searched each broker's brand terms, and the brokers are ranked on that figure alone.

A term counts for a broker only when that broker's own website holds the first organic Google result for it in Singapore; bare brand words that any company could own are left out.

A month-on-month change prints only where the previous month reached 1,000 searches, because Google rounds smaller volumes.

The figures refresh on the 15th of each month with the newest month Google has published, and the first-result check repeats every quarter.

MAS actions and the Investor Alert List

Our search on the same read found two MAS media releases that name the firm. A March 2017 release records a conviction of an individual for a scheme that defrauded two CFD providers, IG Asia Pte Ltd and CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd, and a September 2012 release records civil penalty action against an individual whose trades took place in accounts maintained with the firm. Neither names the licensee as its subject.

CMC Markets client money

The entity a Singapore client contracts with is CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd. The firm’s own Singapore site prints the name as CMC Markets Singapore Pte. Ltd.

CMC Markets spreads and commission

The firm advertises EUR/USD pricing for its accounts on two Singapore pages, and the figures differ between them.

CFD (Next Generation)

The firm advertises a minimum EUR/USD spread of 0.5 pips, “starting from”, in points, for the CFD (Next Generation) account (the firm’s trading-costs page).

FX Active

On the firm’s active-trader page, the FX Active account carries an advertised EUR/USD minimum of 0 pips, and the same table gives 0.8 as the standard CFD account minimum, a higher figure than the trading-costs page’s advertised minimum.

Commission

The firm states that FX Active commission is charged at a fixed rate of 0.0025% per transaction (the firm’s active-trader page).

What it costs to trade with CMC Markets

What a trade costs here is the advertised spread for your account and, on FX Active, the commission; both are in the spreads section.

Other fees a Singapore trader should check

Beyond spreads and commission, the firm states a transaction fee on Mastercard and Visa card deposits on its funding page. Before you trade, check overnight holding costs and currency conversion costs on the firm’s Singapore site.

CMC Markets deposits and withdrawals

I would use FAST or PayNow, both of which the firm lists at no cost, and avoid the card route.

Deposit methods (Singapore clients)

For a Singapore retail trader, I would treat the free local routes as the default choice.

Withdrawals

The firm states local remittances take 1-2 business days. I would plan withdrawals around that stated window rather than assuming same-day settlement.

CMC Markets account types and minimum deposit

In my opinion the split is straightforward: FX Active suits traders focused on the major pairs that account covers.

Minimum deposit

The firm states no minimum deposit. Its funding FAQs say you cannot place a trade unless there are sufficient funds in your account to open a position.

CMC Markets trading platforms

The firm’s Singapore site names three platforms: Next Generation, MetaTrader 4, and TradingView. In my opinion, having MetaTrader 4 alongside the firm’s own Next Generation platform is a real convenience if you already know MT4, and TradingView gives charting-focused traders a familiar route in.

CMC Markets execution speed and slippage

Our global panel of 36 brokers measured CMC Markets at 138 ms for limit orders, 18th of 36, and 180 ms for market orders, 26th of 36. These are figures from our global broker test, not a Singapore test, and no fill time was measured on a Singapore account.

A fill time tells you how quickly an order was filled, not the price you got: two fills at the same speed can slip differently. The advertised spreads in the spreads section matter as much as speed to what you actually pay.

CMC Markets markets

The firm states you can trade on up to 300 forex pairs with leverage on its CFD platform.

CMC Markets leverage and margin for Singapore clients

I would read the firm’s risk warning in full before your first CFD trade.

Margin or leverage, as the firm states it: EUR/USD margin retail 5%, Pro 2% (Firm's Singapore site, read 24 September 2026)

Risk warning, as the firm prints it: CFDs carry a high level of risk; it is possible to lose more than the initial investment (Firm's Singapore site, read 24 September 2026)

The rule that binds every MAS licensee alike is Table 18 of the Fourth Schedule to the Securities and Futures (Financial and Margin Requirements for Holders of Capital Markets Services Licences) Regulations (Rg 13), regulation 24A: minimum margin of 5% for a retail customer (20:1, our arithmetic) and 2% for an accredited, expert or institutional investor (50:1, our arithmetic).

CMC Markets, IG, and Interactive Brokers compared for Singapore traders

In our rated Singapore set, ordered by score across the 16 firms, IG sits third and Interactive Brokers fifth, with CMC Markets between them. On pricing, IG states a 0.6 pip EUR/USD minimum and a 1.04 pip average on its CFD account, with 0.85 as the 00:00 to 21:00 average; its stated minimum sits above FX Active’s advertised 0.

Interactive Brokers Singapore Pte. Ltd. takes fifth place with 62.3 out of 100 (global), one place below CMC Markets in the same order. In my view the gap between the two scores is small enough that platform and product fit should decide, not the ranking alone.

Should you open an account with CMC Markets?

Yes, I would open an account with CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd if you are a Singapore CFD trader who wants a wide market range and a choice of platforms, and you accept the firm’s advertised costs.

CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd is the entity you contract with, and our search found no MAS action naming it as its subject. I would fund through a free local route rather than the card route, and read the firm’s Terms of Business in full. Before depositing, check the licence details for yourself on the MAS Financial Institutions Directory and the funding costs on the firm’s Singapore site.
