The session clock gives each session's own market hours, the same hours in GMT, and the same hours in SGT, and it marks which sessions are open at the moment you are reading.
Forex market hours clock
| Session | Local market hours | In GMT | In SGT | Overlap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney | 07:00 to 16:00 AEST | 21:00 to 06:00 | 05:00 to 14:00 | |
| Tokyo | 09:00 to 18:00 JST | 00:00 to 09:00 | 08:00 to 17:00 | |
| London | 08:00 to 17:00 GMT | 08:00 to 17:00 | 16:00 to 01:00 | London plus New York |
| New York | 08:00 to 17:00 EST | 13:00 to 22:00 | 21:00 to 06:00 | London plus New York |
London and New York overlap from 13:00 to 17:00 GMT, the highest-volume window of the trading day.
The SGT column converts each centre's own market hours at Singapore's fixed UTC+08:00 offset, so it is arithmetic rather than a reading of the clock on any particular day, and because Singapore never changes its clocks, any change in London, New York, or Sydney lands entirely on the session time.
| Session | In SGT, its standard time | In SGT, its daylight time | Its daylight time runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney | 05:00 to 14:00 | 04:00 to 13:00 | 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 (AEDT) |
| Tokyo | 08:00 to 17:00 | No daylight saving | |
| London | 16:00 to 01:00 | 15:00 to 00:00 | 29 March 2026 to 25 October 2026 (BST) |
| New York | 21:00 to 06:00 | 20:00 to 05:00 | 8 March 2026 to 1 November 2026 (EDT) |
| Period | The clocks in each centre | Overlap in SGT | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 January 2026 to 8 March 2026 | London GMT, New York EST | 21:00 to 01:00 | 4 hours |
| 8 March 2026 to 29 March 2026 | London GMT, New York EDT | 20:00 to 01:00 | 5 hours |
| 29 March 2026 to 25 October 2026 | London BST, New York EDT | 20:00 to 00:00 | 4 hours |
| 25 October 2026 to 1 November 2026 | London GMT, New York EDT | 20:00 to 01:00 | 5 hours |
| 1 November 2026 to 31 December 2026 | London GMT, New York EST | 21:00 to 01:00 | 4 hours |
The dates come from the IANA time zone database rather than from anyone's notes. In the two stretches of the year when the United States is on daylight time and Europe is not, the London and New York overlap runs five hours instead of four.
The hours shown are each market's own local business hours, and sessions run Monday to Friday in each market's own week. Once the clock loads, your own device time zone is applied.
When the forex market opens and closes in Singapore time
The trading week opens with the Sydney session at 05:00 SGT on Monday, and Sydney’s switch to AEDT pulls that open back to 04:00 SGT for the part of the year it applies. From that first open the market runs continuously through the five trading days, with no daily break at all. The week closes with the New York session at 06:00 SGT on Saturday, and while New York is on EDT the close arrives at 05:00 SGT on Saturday. The weekend is closed throughout. My own view of that shape is that a Singapore trader gets a market which starts before the working day does and keeps running past bedtime every night that follows.
Each trading session in Singapore time
Sydney runs 05:00 to 14:00 SGT on its standard time. Tokyo follows at 08:00 to 17:00 SGT, and those two windows sit inside the Singapore working day, which is the quiet practical advantage of trading from this time zone. London opens at 16:00 SGT on GMT and runs to 01:00 SGT. New York opens at 21:00 SGT on EST and runs to 06:00 SGT. Both of the later sessions sit in your evening and the small hours of the following morning, and a session that opens in your evening always closes on the next morning, never on the day it opened. The London session in Singapore time
The London session runs 16:00 to 01:00 SGT while London is on GMT. While London is on BST, the session runs 15:00 to 00:00 SGT instead. Either way, the session opens on one Singapore day and closes on the next: a session that opens at 16:00 SGT closes at 01:00 SGT the following morning, and one that opens at 15:00 SGT closes at 00:00 SGT the following morning. I like the London open for a reader in Singapore, because 16:00 SGT is reachable after a full working day, and the session is still going when you would otherwise be winding down. If your evenings run later, the whole first stretch of the session sits in hours you are likely to be awake for anyway, and the close falls in the small hours rather than at a moment you would have to plan around.
The New York session in Singapore time
The New York session runs 21:00 to 06:00 SGT while New York is on EST. While New York is on EDT, the session runs 20:00 to 05:00 SGT instead. Like the London session, it opens on one Singapore day and closes on the next: a session that opens at 21:00 SGT closes at 06:00 SGT the following morning. That 06:00 SGT close matters more than any other on the Singapore clock, because the New York session that ends at 06:00 SGT on Saturday is the close of the whole trading week. If you keep ordinary hours in Singapore, a 21:00 start means the session begins after dinner rather than during your working day, so reaching it is a choice about your evening rather than about your job.
The Asian session hours: Sydney and Tokyo in Singapore time
The Sydney session runs 05:00 to 14:00 SGT while Sydney is on its own standard time, and 04:00 to 13:00 SGT while Sydney is on AEDT. The Tokyo session runs 08:00 to 17:00 SGT and never moves, because Japan does not change its clocks. Between them, these two sessions sit across the Singapore working day: Sydney is open from the start of a Singapore morning, Tokyo carries through the middle of the day, and Sydney is still open through the early afternoon. For a reader in Singapore, this is the one stretch of the trading day that asks nothing of your evenings. You can sit at a screen during these hours on an ordinary working day, which is not something the London or New York sessions offer.
When London and New York overlap on the Singapore clock
The London and New York overlap is the highest-volume window of the trading day, and on the Singapore clock it sits in your evening. While both centres are on standard time it runs 21:00 to 01:00 SGT, four hours. While both are on daylight time it runs 20:00 to 00:00 SGT, again four hours. In the two stretches of the year when the United States is on daylight time and Europe is not, the overlap widens to five hours, 20:00 to 01:00 SGT, because London’s close and New York’s open move apart. Those two stretches fall from 8 March to 29 March and from 25 October to 1 November in 2026. For most of the year, then, you are looking at a four-hour window that starts in the Singapore evening, with a longer one twice a year when the two centres are out of step.
How the London and New York clock changes move the sessions in SGT
Singapore’s offset is fixed at UTC+08:00, and the country runs no daylight saving, so every clock change elsewhere moves the session on the Singapore clock rather than moving your clock. London is on BST from 29 March 2026 to 25 October 2026. New York is on EDT from 8 March 2026 to 1 November 2026. Sydney is on AEDT from 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027. Each of those three changes moves that centre’s session one hour earlier in SGT, because Singapore stays where it is. The United States and Europe change on different dates, and that is what produces the two stretches of the year when they are out of step and the overlap runs five hours instead of four. Japan changes nothing. One combination never occurs: London is never on summer time while New York is on standard time.
What is the best time to trade forex in Singapore?
The best time for most Singapore readers is the London and New York overlap, which runs 21:00 to 01:00 SGT while both centres are on standard time and sits squarely in your evening. If your day leaves no room for an evening at a screen, the Sydney and Tokyo hours run across your working day, from 05:00 or 04:00 SGT through to 17:00 SGT. I would pick the evening overlap for a reader keeping office hours in Singapore, because it asks for one block of time after dinner and nothing before it. Where you hold a position in those hours is your call, and you can check the MAS-regulated brokers in Singapore list before you do.
